Traveling to different cities, doing readings for my memoir, Love, Rita, means engaging with people who knew my sister, people who will now get to know her, people who love books, and people who love me.
With this, my fourth book, I know now more than ever that the joy and purpose of a book tour is the community I’m bringing together to celebrate, well, me!
I’ve felt the love throughout this tour, from a wondrous book launch in Brooklyn, to special events in my beloved hometown Detroit, as well as those in Philly and DC.
In the next week, I’ll be doing four more events in places that mean a lot to me: Tonight in my chosen home of Brooklyn, then in Atlanta — where Rita and I lived together as she attended Atlanta University and I attended Spelman — and then on to Chicago, where Rita came to see my indie film’s debut 30 years ago.
It’s nice to be on the road again, and I hope to see some of you along the way….

Hi Bridgett, I am sorry I missed you in Detroit. Perhaps you will return to Ann Arbor. I definitely will read Love, Rita.

Come to Dallas! Sorry if I'm a broken record. :-)
