I really enjoyed this piece, thank you. I will say that creative men often face similar obstacles when it comes to finding a partner that has patience and understanding. Some people love how it sounds to say "my mate is a writer," but get an attitude when you actually have to write.
Thank you for the excellent read. Congrats on the screening.
I love this question, "Is the pursuit of our own aspirations and the role of those who support us a linked responsibility?" because it points to the importance of women feeling secure in their identity as an artist/creative before committing to a relationship. That self-identity then becomes a natural part of the relationship no different than other routines kept - I visit my mom on Sundays, I get my nails done Tuesday evenings, I write in the morning before dawn. Self-ownership has definitely been more acceptable for women over the generations and the women in your life are lucky to have you rooting for them in ways others may be lacking or absent.
Thank you for this. I'm always fortified thinking of women like Kathleen Collins, Gayl Jones, my mother, you...all of us trying to hold onto our ambitions in the face of everything telling you not to.
Just got tix to see the screening in Chicago, so looking forward to it.
I really enjoyed the selection of films shown tonight. Yours reminded me, not only of the 90βs, and a younger meβ¦but how much I have had to fight not to continue to be her. Thank you for your work and allowing us to be a witness π
Thank you for supporting the series! I'm glad my film resonated with you; it's a constant struggle for most women to not become Michelle. Our life's work, in some ways....
Thanks for sharing these stories. It was hard in those days, and still is for women not to be derailed by relationships and pursue our artistic dreams.
Congratulations! You are on a roll.
Such interesting and relatable truths.

Thx for getting tickets! The screening includes a beautiful film by Kathleen Collinsβ granddaughter, in tribute to the grandmother she never knew.
